Danny Murphy rates Ander Herrera’s display after Man United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham
Danny Murphy praises Ander Herrera after the Spaniard fired Manchester United into the FA Cup final with victory over Tottenham
Danny Murphy heaped praise on the “terrific” Ander Herrera after the Spanish midfielder scored Manchester United’s winner to fire them into the FA Cup final at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs had taken the lead in the first half when Dele Alli turned home Christian Eriksen’s superb cross in the 11th minute at Wembley.
However, Manchester United soon equalised when Alexis Sanchez rose to head home Paul Pogba’s cross in the 24th minute.
The score was level at 1-1 at half-time, before Herrera popped up to score the winner in the 62nd minute to send Manchester United into next month’s final and set up a clash against either Chelsea FC or Southampton.
And former Liverpool FC midfielder Murphy was impressed by Herrera’s performance as the Red Devils claimed victory.
Murphy told BBC Sport: “Ander Herrera gets a good firm strike behind it and United lead.
“Since the equaliser in the first-half he has been terrific. He has been filling in, spotting danger, been tidy with his play and now he has contributed with that goal.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action next weekend when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are aiming to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the table, and they are currently second behind the newly-crowned champions.
