Ander Herrera has challenged Manchester United to equal Arsenal’s record in the FA Cup.

The Gunners won the competition for the 13th time last season after Arsenal were 2-1 winners against Chelsea FC at Wembley last term.

Manchester United got their hands on the FA Cup in 2015 after Jesse Lingard scored a winner in extra time to secure a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The 20-time English champions were 2-0 winners against Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion to set up a semi-final meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs were 2-0 winners against Manchester United at Wembley in the Premier League back in February.

Herrera is optimistic that the Red Devils can match Arsenal’s 13 FA Cup titles this season despite the prospect of a potential meeting with Chelsea FC in the final.

“I think we have one less than Arsenal – they have 13 and we have 12 so it’s very important for us to win the competition and we have a 25 per cent possibility at the moment,” Herrera told Man United’s website.

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but a staggering 16 points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 on aggregate to La Liga outfit Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 last month.

The 20-time English champions signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Manchester United won the EFL Cup and the Europa League last term.
