Chris Sutton sends direct message to Man United boss Jose Mourinho
The former Chelsea FC striker tells Jose Mourinho to accept responsibility for Man United's poor performances
Chris Sutton has demanded that Jose Mourinho accept responsibility for Manchester United’s poor performances this term.
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 loss to 20th placed West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at Old Trafford last weekend.
Manchester United’s defeat handed the Premier League title to Manchester City with five games remaining in the current campaign.
The 20-time English champions have struggled to impress like their Premier League title rivals in the 2017-18 season.
Mourinho’s side have scored less goals than Manchester City and Liverpool FC in the current top-flight campaign.
Manchester United can still finish the season with some silverware if the Red Devils get their hands on the FA Cup.
Former Chelsea FC striker Sutton criticised Mourinho following their Premier League setback against West Brom
“To come out and say: ‘that’s football…’ He is the man at the helm,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He is passing the buck. Take a bit of personal responsibility.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term but won the Europa League and the League Cup.
The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League but a mere point ahead of Liverpool FC.
