Nemanja Vidic has reminded the Manchester United squad that there is a high expectancy at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were 3-2 winners against Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford earlier this month following a sensational comeback triumph thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend following Jay Rodriguez’s second-half winner to heap pressure on the Red Devils squad.

The 20-time English champions have struggled to produce swashbuckling performances, while their rivals Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Tottenham have impressed with their entertaining football.

Mourinho was critical of his players following their 1-0 loss to the Premier League’s basement club in what has been a largely disappointing season following premature exits in the Champions League and the League Cup.

Former Manchester United defender Vidic sent a blunt message to the Red Devils squad about their responsibility to produce for the Old Trafford outfit.

“You play for Man United, it’s not acceptable to draw or lose, always you have a high expectancy,” Vidic told Manchester Evening News.

“We won the Champions League and we didn’t celebrate. We had two hours of celebration, go on holiday, and the manager was thinking: ‘Who will we bring in next season to compete?'”

Manchester United will take on Spurs in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley for a place in the final where they could take on Chelsea FC or Southampton.

The Red Devils signed Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in January.
