Nemanja Vidic has warned Manchester United that their FA Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur is a vital game in their 2017-18 season.

The Red Devils managed to prevent Manchester City from getting their hands on the Premier League trophy at The Etihad earlier this month after coming from 2-0 down to rescue a sensational 3-2 victory over their derby rivals.

However, Manchester United handed the Citizens the Premier League title on Sunday following a shock 1-0 loss to the Premier League’s basement club West Brom despite having home advantage.

Jay Rodriguez scored a 73rd-minute winner to hand the Premier League title to Manchester City with five games to go.

The 20-time English champions are in second place but a mere point ahead of Liverpool FC in the race to finish behind Manchester City.

Manchester United can still finish the season with some silverware if the Red Devils can beat Tottenham at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final before Chelsea FC take or Southampton in the showpiece.

Former Manchester United defender Vidic believes the Red Devils need to win the FA Cup to inject some good feeling into their season.

“United need a good spirit ahead of the Tottenham (FA Cup semi-final) match, an important match,” Vidic told the Manchester Evening News.

Manchester United lost 2-0 to Tottenham at Wembley in the Premier League last term.
