Andrei Kanchelskis has admitted that he doesn’t see any similarities between Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Portuguese head coach is currently in charge of the Red Devils but hasn’t been immune to criticism since taking over the reins at Old Trafford.

Mourinho was appointed to replace Louis van Gaal after Manchester United finished outside the top four in the Dutchman’s second season.

Manchester United won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under Mourinho’s management but ended up in sixth spot.

The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table this term but 16 points adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City.

Manchester United have scored 28 goals less than their bitter rivals in the English top flight to prompt criticism of their style of play.

The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since Ferguson’s final season in charge at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United star Kanchelsksis doesn’t see that any similarities between Ferguson and Mourinho.

“No, they’re from two completely different schools,” Kanchelsksis told BetStars.

“They’re very different coaches with different mentalities. Mourinho is Portuguese and they have a different system of playing, and of course Ferguson was the best.”

Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns and countless domestic trophies under Ferguson.
