Juan Mata insists Manchester United are looking forward to their trip to Manchester City in next weekend’s derby.

The Red Devils will make the short journey to the Etihad Stadium in an attempt to delay Pep Guardiola’s side lifting the Premier League title.

Manchester United have won their last four Premier League games following victories over Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, Crystal Palace and Swansea City.

Romelu Lukaku scored his 100th Premier League goal in a 2-0 win against Swansea City at Old Trafford to help Manchester United cement second place in the table.

Manchester City were 3-1 winners against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday to move to within one victory of their first Premier League title under Pep Guardiola.

The Citizens are sitting 16 points ahead of Manchester United with seven games to play in the Premier League.

However, Mata is confident that Manchester United can test Manchester City in their derby meeting at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.

“This week we will keep working on a game that many people are already talking about,” Mata wrote on his personal blog.

“Of course I mean the derby against City. This game doesn’t come in an ideal situation, for there’s quite a gap of points between the two of us, but we all know that it’s a special game.

“We’re looking forward to playing against them and having a good performance. That’s what our fans deserve.”

Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final in pursuit of a first FA Cup crown under Jose Mourinho.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under the Portuguese coach.
