Manchester United are weighing up a summer transfer bid to sign Alfie Mawson from Swansea City, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils sent a “top scout” to watch Mawson in action during Swansea’s 1-1 draw with West Brom last weekend as Manchester United assess their targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The same story says that Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his options at the back this summer as he looks to assemble a squad capable of winning the title next season.

According to the same report, Tottenham are also among the clubs tracking the 24-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

The defender has scored two goals and made one assist in 32 Premier League games for Swansea City so far this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against West Brom at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table after their impressive 3-2 comeback win over Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend.

Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad.
