The young English midfielder has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for the Red Devils this season after being given a handful of first-team opportunities by Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
McTominay has been called upon more regularly during Herrera’s spell on the sidelines with an injury, and he has notched up 19 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United so far this season.
The 21-year-old looks set to have a bright future at Old Trafford and Spanish midfielder Herrera is expecting to see big things from him in the years to come.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Herrera said: “I knew when I saw him training with us that he was a very competitive guy and that he wants to help the team and he wants to learn every day.
“He’s going to be a good player for the club. He’s a team player and he can help in any position you put him.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Manchester City in the crunch derby clash at The Etihad on Saturday night.
The Red Devils know that if Manchester City win, they will be crowned Premier League champions.
Mourinho’s side are still playing for the FA Cup this season and they will look to secure Champions League qualification by finishing in second place in the Premier League table.
