The French midfielder has come in for a fair amount of criticism this season for his failure to produce consistent performances for the Red Devils under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United found themselves to be 2-0 down at half-time as Manchester City seemingly took control of the game.
But Pogba netted twice in the second half to draw Manchester United back level, before Chris Smalling netted the all-important winner to claim the three points for Mourinho’s men.
Pogba has been constantly under the spotlight at Old Trafford since his big-money move to the club from Juventus in the summer of 2016.
However, Neville has warned the midfielder that the expectation placed on him at Old Trafford simply forms part of being a Manchester United player, and that he will have to accept the pressure.
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, Neville said: “There is a large expectation.
“The Man United badge carries a responsibility. They don’t want robots. They want characters. He hasn’t demonstrated that on the pitch.”
Manchester United are currently preparing to return to Premier League action and their home clash against West Brom on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are second in the Premier League table as they look to finish as runners-up to Manchester City for next season.
