Jose Mourinho makes prediction about Arsene Wenger after Arsenal
Jose Mourinho expects Arsene Wenger to remain in football management after Arsenal
Jose Mourinho is predicting that Arsene Wenger will remain in football after he leaves Arsenal this summer.
The Frenchman has announced that he will be stepping down at the end of the season after almost 22 years in charge at Arsenal.
Wenger is aiming to try and end his stint at Arsenal on a high by winning the Europa League to secure the north London club’s place in the Champions League group stage for next season.
The 68-year-old confirmed that he will be taking at least a month off in the summer away from the game before deciding where his future lies.
And Manchester United manager Mourinho feels that Wenger is likely to stay in football management after this summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports before Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday, Mourinho said: “I don’t think Arsene is going to end his coaching career.
“As far as I know he is only finishing at Arsenal. I am sure Manchester United fans will remember all the years when Arsenal were their biggest rivals, and I am going to remember Arsene as a big opponent, the manager of the Invincibles.
“That was my first year in this country. When I arrived in 2004 Arsenal had just won the title without being beaten.
“I would say the Invincibles made me a better coach and that is the way I will remember Arsene, although I should say he is not yet dead. I doubt if he is finished with football.”
Arsenal will take on Atletico Madrid in the return leg of their Europa League semi-final clash in Spain on Thursday night.
The Gunners were pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid in the first leg at The Emirates last week despite the Spanish side having been reduced to 10 men early on in the game.
The north London side are sixth in the Premier League and set to miss out on a top four finish for the second season running.
