Jose Mourinho insists midfielder will stay at Man United
Jose Mourinho feels that Marouane Fellaini will commit his future to Man United beyond the summer
Jose Mourinho appears to be convinced that Marouane Fellaini will stay at Manchester United beyond the summer transfer window.
The Belgian midfielder’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks due to the fact that his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
Fellaini is yet to commit his future to Manchester United, leading to suggestions that he could be set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer.
The 30-year-old once again proved his worth to Mourinho’s side on Sunday afternoon when he came off the bench to head home Manchester United’s winner in their 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen where Fellaini’s future lies, however Mourinho seems to feel that the midfielder could still yet commit his future to the Red Devils.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Sunday, Mourinho said: “I believe he will stay. He’s a good player and he can be used in many different circumstances, according to the nature of the game.
“That’s why we want him to stay and that’s why I believe that he is going to stay.
“The position is we are almost there. But, in football, almost is not enough. I think we are almost there but I can’t celebrate because almost is not enough.
“I want to see the white paper with the United crest and I Mr Ed Woodward’s signature and Maraoune’s signature on it.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Friday night when they travel to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to try and secure the runners-up spot behind Manchester City.
Manchester United will take on Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley next month.
