Jose Mourinho wants to bring Jonny Evans back to Manchester United in a cut-price transfer deal this summer, according to reports in the British media.

Metro is reporting that the Portuguese coach wants to re-sign the defender from West Brom as he looks to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford ahead of next season.

Evans moved to West Brom from Manchester United back in 2015 when Louis van Gaal deemed him to be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

According to the same story, Evans is valued at around £25m by West Brom but he would be available for just £3m if the Baggies are relegated this season.

Evans’ future was a source of speculation in both the summer and the January transfer windows, with the defender having been touted as a potential target for Arsenal.

Manchester United are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as Mourinho looks to assemble a team capable of winning the Premier League next season.

The Red Devils are second in the table and looking to end the campaign with a trophy by beating Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley next month.
