The French midfielder has found himself under the spotlight at Old Trafford this term following his failure to produce consistent performances in all competitions for Mourinho’s men.
Pogba has shown flashes of brilliance and he was named as the man of the match following his sparkling display in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Manchester City earlier this month.
However, the 25-year-old has often been scrutinised for failing to produce consistent displays for Mourinho’s men this season.
And Arsenal legend Wright feels that is largely down to the fact that he has not been deployed high enough up the pitch to have a big impact.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Wright said: “Personally, I would push him further up the pitch simply because he has the capability to make things happen there rather than at the back, then maybe spraying it sideways.
“You’ve got to get him into the areas where he can then activate people like Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford so he can get them going and spring moves off of them.
“No one can tell me, with the offensive and midfielder players that Man Utd have got, that they should be closer [to Man City] now. I think Man City have caught them and they’ve got caught in the blocks.”
Pogba will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to FA Cup action on Saturday with their semi-final clash against Tottenham at Wembley.
Manchester United are aiming to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League and also win the FA Cup this season.
Mourinho will be expected to lead his Manchester United side to a genuine Premier League title challenge next season.
