The Spaniard has been attracting plenty of praise for his strong performances fro the Red Devils this season.
The 27-year-old has been a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up this season and he has saved the Red Devils countless times.
De Gea was once again in fine form in the Manchester derby on Saturday evening as he produced an amazing reflex save to deny Sergio Aguero at The Etihad.
The shot-stopper has developed into one of the world’s best since his move to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2011.
And Chelsea FC legend Lampard believes that the Spaniard has proved himself to be one of the best around this season.
Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday night, Lampard said: “We come to expect this. He’s probably rightly spoken of as the best goalkeeper in the world.
“He’s done it time and time again this season.
“He’s been United’s Player of the Year many a time over the past few seasons.
“You just have to look at his reflexes, agility and shot-stopping.
“To get a hand on Augero’s header is one thing with the opposite hand, but it’s incredible he got the power in his wrist to flick it over the bar and it’s almost behind him.”
De Gea will be expecting to start for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday with a home clash against West Brom at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are still aiming to try and win the FA Cup this season and they will take on Tottenham in the semi-finals later this month.
