Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is expecting to see Luke Shaw stay at Manchester United beyond the summer transfer window.

The left-back’s situation at Old Trafford has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months due to his lack of playing time at the club this season.

Shaw has seemingly struggled to win the trust of Mourinho in recent months and has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team for the Red Devils.

Indeed, the England international has only made seven appearances in the Premier League this season and has failed to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up.

His lack of playing time has inevitably prompted speculation that he could be sold by Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

However, Mourinho seems to feel that Shaw will be staying at Old Trafford beyond the summer and he is expecting to see him at the club at the start of next season.

When asked if Shaw will be at the club next season, Mourinho told a news conference at Carrington on Friday: “I think so.

“But I always say the door is open for everyone so no problem for him, but I think so.”

Manchester United will return to Premier League action next weekend with a crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad.
