Nemanja Matic has urged Paul Pogba to take “more responsibility” at Manchester United following his stuttering form this season.

Pogba has come in for some criticism in recent months for failing to produce consistent performances for Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Frenchman has shown flashes of brilliance this season but has also been criticised for not being consistent with his displays for Mourinho’s side, with the Red Devils currently second in the Premier League table.

Pogba has been struggling to live up to his billing since his arrival at Old Trafford from Juventus in a club-record transfer deal back in the summer of 2016.

However, Matic has full faith in the France international and is tipping him to produce top form for the Red Devils, as long as he can step his game up.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Matic said: “With his quality and personality, he needs to have more confidence, but he needs to take more responsibility.

“Of course, he’s still young, he can improve and he will improve and he showed in the derby that he always can play better and better if he takes responsibility.”

Manchester United are currently in second place in the Premier League table as they look to try and finish as runners-up to Manchester City.

The Red Devils will be aiming to challenge for the title next season as they bid to try and win the trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement after the 2012-13 season.
