The French midfielder has been under the spotlight this season for his failure to produce consistent form for the Red Devils under Jose Mourinho.
However, he was the man of the match for Manchester United on Saturday as he scored two goals in the second half of their brilliant comeback victory over the Citizens to inspire a comeback.
Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Pogba produce some consistent form for the Red Devils in the coming weeks as he bids to help Mourinho’s men end the campaign on a high.
And despite the debate that has raged about Pogba all season, Crooks feels that the midfielder is clearly an important part of the Manchester United team.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “I’ve always maintained that Jose Mourinho plays the best attacking football when his teams are behind and no football at all when they are winning. United lost all their inhibitions when they went 2-0 down – and so did Paul Pogba.
“His hairstyle might be more suitable on the stage at Crufts but there is no doubt that when he is on his game, and the handbrake is off, he can do untold damage to the opposition – and he did.
“He took his two goals brilliantly and was the difference between United and City on the day.”
Pogba will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when they return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a home clash against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently second in the table as they look to finish as runners-up to Manchester City this term.
