Nemanja Vidic has admitted that he is hoping that Manchester United will be able to improve their Premier League form and challenge Manchester City for the title next season.

The Citizens were crowned as Premier League champions on Sunday after Manchester United slumped to a surprise 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.

The result meant that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side would not be caught at the top of the Premier League table as they were confirmed as champions.

Manchester United have been City’s closest challengers this season but Jose Mourinho’s men have struggled to produce consistent form in the Premier League in the Portuguese coach’s second campaign in charge.

And former Manchester United defender Vidic has admitted that he is hoping to see the Red Devils improve significantly for next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Vidic said: “I just hope that Man United will be much better next year than they were this season and challenge Man City for the title.”

Manchester United will now switch their attentions back towards FA Cup affairs and their semi-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils are looking to try and end the campaign on a high by winning the FA Cup and also finishing in second place in the Premier League to secure their spot in the Champions League group stage for next season.
