Manchester United are preparing to make their first bid to sign Faouzi Ghoulam from Napoli this summer, according to reports in France.

French outlet RMC Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are getting ready to make an official bid for the 27-year-old left-back as Manchester United prepare to try and strengthen their squad this summer.

The same report says that despite interest from both Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC, Manchester United are lining up an offer for the defender after having kept tabs on him for some time.

The story claims that the Red Devils are ready to make an opening £26m bid for the left-back as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his options in that position.

The Algeria international has not featured for the Italian side since suffering a serious knee injury back in November.

He has scored two goals and made three assists in a total of 11 Serie A games for Napoli so far this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City in the top flight on Saturday night.

Victory for Pep Guardiola’s men would clinch them the Premier League title.
