The Red Devils are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the summer transfer window gives Jose Mourinho the chance to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Bale has regularly been linked with a possible move back to the Premier League since his big-money transfer to Real Madrid from Spurs back in the summer of 2013.
The Wales international has struggled with form and fitness issues at Real Madrid this season and that has prompted talk of a possible move away from the Bernabeu for the 28-year-old.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has admitted that he would love to see the Red Devils try and make a move to sign Bale this summer.
Speaking to BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “For his talent, 100 per cent [I would want him].
“If you get him at a decent price, but talent-wise there’s not doubting this guy.
“But it’s just getting him out on the pitch every week is the problem. He hasn’t been able to do that.
“He’s a huge talent. He’s had a bad season by all accounts from what they’re saying, their fans are disgruntled and not happy about him. He’s got 16 goals. In the Premier League, I’d love to see him here.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently preparing for their next Premier League clash against West Brom at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils are currently in second place in the Premier League table after their impressive 3-2 comeback win over leaders Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend.
