Manchester United are set to offer David De Gea a new contract worth £350,000 a week to keep him at Old Trafford, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils want to make the goalkeeper the second highest-paid player at the club behind Alexis Sanchez following his brilliant form in recent seasons.

The same report says that De Gea, who has been relentless linked with Real Madrid in the past, is set to sign his new contract with the Red Devils before he heads to the World Cup with Spain this summer.

According to the same article, Manchester United are “convinced” that the 27-year-old goalkeeper is ready to commit his future to the Red Devils and turn down the prospect of a move to Real Madrid.

The same story suggests that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s move away from Old Trafford to LA Galaxy has left Manchester United with more funds to spend on signings and contracts.

De Gea has been earning huge amounts of praise for his strong performances for Manchester United this season as he helped the Red Devils up into second place in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will take on Manchester City in the Premier League at The Etihad on Saturday as they look to delay the Citizens’ title celebrations.
