Jose Mourinho will make signing two central midfielders Manchester United’s top priority in the summer, Miguel Delany has claimed.

The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Champions League semi-finals Liverpool FC.

Manchester United were 2-0 winners against Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday night.

Mourinho has used club record signing Paul Pogba sparingly over the past few months due to his ineffective performances.

The France international has struggled as part of a midfield pair alongside former Chelsea FC star Nemanja Matic.

Michael Carrick has joined Mourinho’s coaching staff ahead of his summer retirement, while Marouane Fellaini could be a free agent this summer.

Independent reporter Delaney has shed light on where Mourinho’s priorities lay in the 2018 summer transfer window.

“I imagine Man United will go for team places he needs,” Delaney told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“He didn’t want a centre-half in January. Now he wants a centre-half. He didn’t want a striker. He wants a striker again.

“He wants to two central midfielders. He wants a central midfielder who is a passer.”

The 20-time English champions signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League last season but won the Europa League and the League Cup.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to La Liga giants Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16.
