Michael Owen is backing Real Madrid to cement their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a comfortable victory over Juventus at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

The Spanish giants took a big step towards reaching the last four of Europe’s elite club competition by sealing an impressive 3-0 win over the Italian side in Turin last week.

Goal from Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo secured all an impressive win for Zinedine Zidane’s side and put them firmly in control ahead of the second leg at the Bernabeu this week.

Ronaldo’s incredible bicycle kick in Turin will go down as one of the Champions League’s greatest ever goals.

And former Liverpool FC striker Owen feels that Real Madrid are definitely on course to book their place in the semi-finals with victory over Juventus in front of their home fans on Wednesday night.

Writing in his blog for BetVictor, Owen said: “Juventus have won two of their eight away games in the Bernabeu although one was back in 1962 and the other a decade ago.

“Real Madrid are looking to qualify for the last four of the competition for the eighth consecutive season – an extraordinary feat.

“The whites have scored in their last 24 Champions League games – one might be enough to settle this tie.”

Real Madrid also beat Juventus in last season’s Champions League final in Cardiff.

The Spanish side are currently in fourth place in the La Liga table as they look to try and finish the campaign on a high by winning the Champions League for the third straight season.
