The Reds took a big step towards booking their place in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition with a dominant victory over the Citizens at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Mohamed Salah gave the home side the lead in the 12th minute, before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubled their advantage with a brilliant long-range effort.
And Sadio Mane then headed home Salah’s cross in the 31st minute to secure a dominant 3-0 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men against the Premier League leaders.
Liverpool FC will head to The Etihad for the return leg on Tuesday night knowing that Manchester City will have to score five goals to progress if the Reds manage to net an away goal against Pep Guardiola’s side.
And former Manchester United star Keane feels that the Reds will strongly feel that they can nick a goal at The Etihad to all but put the tie to bed.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Keane said: “It will be a tough second leg, but Liverpool will fancy themselves to get an [away] goal and then the tie will be over.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a crunch clash against Everton at Goodison Park.
