Arsenal are ready to increase the transfer funds available to Unai Emery this summer as the Spaniard prepares for his first season, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Telegraph, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners chiefs have opted to increase their initial budget of £50m by a further £20m, giving the new man in charge some more leeway to make the signings he wants this summer.

Emery was unveiled as Arsenal’s new manager last week after Arsene Wenger stood down after 22 years in charge of the north London club.

The Gunners are now set to turn their attentions towards the summer transfer window and the players they could look to bring in ahead of Emery’s first campaign in charge.

According to the same story, Arsenal’s new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is set to play a key role in all transfer negotiations this summer.

Emery has been tasked with steering the Gunners back into the top four this season, with the north London club having finished sixth last term and without a trophy.

Arsenal will have to make do with Europa League football for the second season running after their disappointing campaign in the top flight this term.
