Pundit claims Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is similar to Arsenal legend
Garth Crooks likens January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal legend Nicolas Anelka
Garth Crooks has likened Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to former Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka.
The Gunners signed the Gabon international in a £56m record deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.
The Arsenal striker has proven a big hit in the second half of the 2017-18 Premier League season after eight goals and four assists in 11 games.
Aubameyang scored two goals and made one assist in Arsenal’s 5-0 win against Burnley at The Emirates on Sunday evening.
The Gunners forward will be hoping to fire the north London side back into the Premier League’s top four next term.
Former Spurs forward Crooks believes Aubameyang is similar to former Gunners striker Anelka.
“However, Aubameyang is in a different class,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“A finisher in the Nicolas Anelka league. What a wonderful note to finish on.”
The Gunners were 1-0 winners against Huddersfield Town in Wenger’s final Premier League game in charge of the north London side.
Anelka scored 28 times in 90 games in all competitions during three seasons at Arsenal as a teenager before he moved to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and the Gunners are on the lookout for a new manager.
