Midfielder backs Massimiliano Allegri to be successful Arsenal manager
Southampton star Mario Lemina issues his support for Massimiliano Allegri to take over the reins of Arsenal
Massimiliano Allegri would be a success at Arsenal if the Juventus boss replaces Arsene Wenger at The Emirates this summer, according to Southampton star Mario Lemina.
The Gunners are searching for their next manager after Wenger confirmed that he will stand down as Arsenal boss at the end of the current campaign.
The north London side have regressed under the 68-year-old head coach over the past decade to prompt relentless criticism of Wenger.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04, while the north London side haven’t reached the Champions League quarter-finals in the past eight seasons.
Indeed, the Gunners are in sixth spot and face a battle to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League competition.
Lemina scored three goals in 42 games in all competitions during two seasons under Allegri at Juventus, winning two Serie A titles.
The Southampton star issued his backing for Allegri to take over Wenger’s role at Arsenal in the summer.
“He will give something special to the Premier League like Pep Guardiola [Manchester City] did, and Antonio Conte [Chelsea] did as well,” Lemina told Sky Sports News.
“Because he is Italian he will give something special because he is more tactical. I think he would be very good for Arsenal if he goes.”
The Gunners will take on La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Europa League semi-finals in the Spanish capital on Thursday night.
Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw with los Rojiblancos in first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week.
