The Chelsea FC striker sends a message to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
Olivier Giroud is hoping that Arsene Wenger finds a new challenge after the Arsenal manager oversaw his final Premier League game at The Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners were resounding 5-0 winners against Burnley in north London as the Arsenal supporters gave their club legend a fitting send off.
Elsewhere in the English capital on Sunday afternoon, Giroud scored a first-half winner to help Chelsea FC ease to a 1-0 win over Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge.
The France international moved to Chelsea FC from Arsenal in a £21m deal on transfer deadline day in January after he was deemed surplus to requirements at The Emirates.
Wenger was responsible for bringing Giroud to English football and the French striker won three FA Cups under the 68-year-old head coach.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win against Liverpool FC, Giroud paid a touching tribute to Wenger.
“Arsene Wenger deserves a great tribute for all he has achieved in his Arsenal career,” Giroud said.
“I hope he finds a new challenge too, because I know he is still hungry to win competitions.
“I just want to pay tribute to him.”
Chelsea FC can still finish in the Premier League top four after Giroud’s winner helped the Blues to move to within two points of Tottenham.
Arsenal will finish in sixth spot in the Premier League table this term despite a resounding 5-0 victory over Burnley on Sunday.
Chelsea FC will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
