The Gunners confirmed that Cazorla had left the club after six seasons at the Emirates Stadium on Monday after an injury-ravaged 24 months at the north London club.
Cazorla has been widely tipped to return to Villarreal in the summer transfer window as the diminutive midfielder looks to complete his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury.
Ozil enjoyed a productive midfield partnership with Cazorla at Arsenal given the Spain international’s attacking style of play.
The World Cup winner was clearly sad to see the 32-year-old leave the Gunners after Ozil took to Instagram to pay tribute to the Spanish playmaker.
Ozil wrote on his Instagram page: “All the best to you in your future, @SantiCazorla 🙏🏼🇪🇸 Sad to see you go amigo! #GraciasSanti #oohSaaantiiiCazooorlaa”
Cazorla won three FA Cups in four seasons with Arsenal after the Spain international moved to the Gunners from La Liga side Malaga in a £16m deal in 2012 summer transfer window.
The Gunners are expected to appoint Unai Emery as their new manager after Arsene Wenger stood down at the end of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and have missed out on a place in the top four in the last two seasons.
