Arsene Wenger told Arsenal summer signing is a big disappointment
Arsenal legend Perry Groves isn't impressed with Sead Kolasinac's first season at the north London side
Perry Groves has named Sead Kolasinac as the biggest disappointment at Arsenal this season.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international moved to the Gunners in a swap deal from Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 in the summer transfer window.
Kolasinac was signed to strengthen Arsene Wenger’s options at left-back, although the powerful defender can also fill in at centre-half.
The 24-year-old made a promising start to his first season in the Premier League with two goals and two assists in his opening five games in all competitions.
However, Kolasinac appeared to fall out of favour under Wenger in the second half of the campaign and the Bosnian hasn’t been able to reclaim his starting spot.
The former Schalke 04 man has started 22 games and made a further two appearances as a substitute in the Premier League.
Kolasinac didn’t feature in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid at The Emirates.
Former Arsenal defender Groves admitted that Kolasinac hasn’t lived up to his expectations after a promising start.
Asked to name the biggest disappointment at Arsenal this season, Groves told Sportingbet:
“Kolasinac was playing so well when he first arrived he looked like he could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.
“I don’t know if there’s something going on behind the scenes, but he went off the boil and now can’t get back into the team.”
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and won’t finish in the top four this term.
