Martin Keown urges Unai Emery to keep Arsenal duo
The Arsenal legend wants Unai Emery to keep Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey
Martin Keown has urged Unai Emery to ensure Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere remain at Arsenal.
The Gunners duo have been linked with potential exits in the 2018 summer transfer window after a season of change at Arsenal.
The north London side could lose Wilshere for nothing this summer unless Arsenal can reach an agreement with the England international.
Ramsey has been linked with a potential move to their bitter rivals Manchester United just months after Alexis Sanchez transferred to Old Trafford.
The Wales international has 12 months left on his current deal at Arsenal to open up the possibility of Ramsey running down his contract.
Arsenal appointed Emery as their new manager on Wednesday after Arsene Wenger stood down earlier this month following 22 seasons in charge.
Former Gunners defender Keown is desperate for Arsenal to keep the midfield duo given the number of outgoings already in the past 12 months.
“I cannot remember another season when so many players have left Arsenal,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Coquelin, Giroud, Gabriel and Gibbs have all left in the last 12 months.
“Given so many have been allowed to leave, Arsenal have to keep hold of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.”
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table this season and ended up 12 points adrift of Liverpool FC, who finished in the final Champions League qualification spot.
The Gunners lost 3-0 to Premier League champions Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley earlier this year.
