Martin Keown has challenged new Arsenal manager Unai Emery to steer the Gunners to a top-four finish next season.

The north London side confirmed that Emery as Arsene Wenger’s successor Wednesday following intense speculation.

The Gunners finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table this term to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second successive season.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 following steady regression under Arsene Wenger over the past decade or so.

The north London outfit ended Wenger’s final season without silverware following a 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the League Cup final.

Former Arsenal star Keown has outlined Emery’s targets for his first season in charge of the north London club.

“He’s been brought in to get the club back in the top four,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “To do so would be an amazing achievement.

“Trying to win the Europa League has to be on the radar again.”

Arsenal have won the FA Cup in three of the past five seasons under Arsene Wenger but have undoubtedly regressed under the Frenchamn.

The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Arsenal finished the season unbeaten.
