Arsene Wenger has once again urged Jack Wilshere to sign a new contract at Arsenal as the speculation about his future continues.

The England midfielder’s situation at The Emirates has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months as he approached the final few weeks of his contract.

Wilshere has yet to sign a new deal with his boyhood club, meaning that he could leave Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Arsenal fans will be hoping to see the 26-year-old commit his future to the north London club.

Wenger will be stepping down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season, bringing an end to his 22-year reign at the north London club.

And Wenger has opened up about the latest on Wilshere’s situation as the midfielder approaches the end of his contract.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Wednesday night, Wenger said: “I give him only always one advice: stay at the club.

“The noises I have is that he will do it, but I don’t know how close he is to signing the contract or not. But the noises are positive.

“I hope that will be concluded very quickly and that he can go to the World Cup with England, and win the World Cup.”

Arsenal will play their final game under Wenger when they travel to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on the last day of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in Wenger’s penultimate game in charge of the north London club on Wednesday night.
