Jack Wilshere is on the verge of signing a new three-year contract with Arsenal, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the England midfielder is now close to committing his future to the north London club after months of speculation about his future.

The 26-year-old’s situation at The Emirates has been a constant source of speculation in recent weeks due to the fact that his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

However, according to the same report, Wilshere is now poised to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club.

The same report says that Arsenal have offered Wilshere an improved contract, featuring a pay-as-you-play add-on, which will represent a significant pay rise as long as the midfielder is featuring regularly.

The story claims that the likes of Everton, Wolves, Juventus and AC Milan had been tracking Wilshere, but the midfielder is now close to committing his future to the club, with his new contract set to contain the option to extend for a further 12 months.

Arsenal will play their final game under Arsene Wenger on Sunday when they travel to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.
