Maddison has been in good form for Norwich City this season, scoring 14 goals and making eight assists in 44 Championship appearances for the Canaries.
He recently suffered a knee injury, but the problem is not believed to be a serious as first feared and he is only set to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks.
According to the same report, it is the Gunners and the newly-crowned champions who are leading the race to sign Maddison this summer after his fine form for the Championship side.
Arsenal are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the north London club prepares for life after Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners are poised to play their final game under the Frenchman on Sunday as his 22-year stint as Arsenal manager comes to an end.
The north London side are yet to confirm who will be taking over as their new manager.
