Anthony Martial paid tribute to “legend” Arsene Wenger after the Arsenal manager made his final appearance as Gunners boss at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 68-year-old Frenchman announced that he would be stepping down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge last month.

Wenger has now been tasked with steering Arsenal to Europa League glory as the Gunners look to book their place in the Champions League group stage for next season.

The Frenchman was given a warm reception at Old Trafford and was greeted by Sir Alex Ferguson before the game as he made his final appearance at the ground as Arsenal manager.

And Manchester United striker Martial, 22, clearly holds Wenger in high regard as he took to social media to pay tribute to the departing Gunners boss after Sunday’s game.

Martial posted the picture above on his personal Twitter account and wrote: “Tribute to a legend.”

Martial has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent weeks due to his lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford of late.

Meanwhile, Wenger is currently preparing his Arsenal side for their trip to Atletico Madrid in the return leg of their crunch Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday night.
