Piers Morgan reacts to reports of Arsenal manager appointment
Piers Morgan approves of talk of Arsenal appointing Unai Emery as their new manager
Piers Morgan has given his seal of approval to reports that Arsenal are set to appoint Unai Emery as the club’s new manager.
Widespread reports in the British media on Monday evening claimed that the north London side have settled on the former Paris Saint-Germain manager as their new boss.
Arsenal have been on the lookout for a new manager after Arsene Wenger stood down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge of the north London club.
Celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan was one of Wenger’s harshest critics during the final few years of the Frenchman’s reign at the club.
And the outspoken Gunners supporter has insisted that he was delighted to hear about the reports of Arsenal moving to appoint Enery as their new boss.
Morgan wrote on Twitter: “I wanted a young, dynamic manager with a proven track record.
“I thus approve of Arsenal appointing Unai Emery, 46.
“Just won the Treble at PSG after winning 3 successive Europas at Sevilla. He’s a winner. Welcome, Senõr!”
Arsenal are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the north London side look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and they ended up in sixth place in the table this term, meaning that they will have to make do without Champions League football next season once again.
