Arsenal ready to swoop for 23-year-old PSG star – report
Arsenal are planning to swoop for Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot, according to a report in Italy
Arsenal are preparing to launch a swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media website Calciomercato, as quoted by The Daily Mirror, is reporting that Rabiot is disillusioned with life at PSG after a lack of playing time resulted in his omission from France’s 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia.
The same article states new Arsenal manager Unai Emery could orchestrate a move to sign the 23-year-old to bolster his midfield options ahead of the 2017-18 season.
According to the same story, Rabiot has one year left on his current contract with PSG which could open up the possibility of a cut-price deal in this summer’s transfer window.
The PSG star scored one goal and made five assists in 33 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, while Rabiot netted one goal in eight Champions League fixtures.
Arsenal confirmed Emery as their new manager on Wednesday following a week of speculation surrounding Arsene Wenger’s possible successor at The Emirates.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when the north London side became the first Premier League team to finish a season unbeaten.
Arsenal have regressed in recent seasons as highlighted by their failure to secure a top-four finish in the last two campaigns.
