Caglar Soyuncu responds to Arsenal transfer speculation
Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu opens up about reported interest from Arsenal in the Turkish defender
Caglar Soyuncu has remained tightlipped about potential interest from Arsenal in the highly-rated Freiburg defender.
The Gunners have been linked with a potential swoop to sign the Turkey international in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is a long-term target for Arsenal and recent speculation has suggested the Gunners could swoop for the centre-half to improve their options at the back.
Soyuncu is thought to be valued at around £35m following another impressive Bundesliga campaign for the rising Turkish starlet.
Arsenal confirmed Unai Emery as their new manager on Wednesday after Mikel Arteta was previously the favourite to take over the reins from Arsene Wenger.
However, Soyuncu has revealed that he has received a number of different offers to indicate Arsenal will face competition for the defender’s signature.
“I am very thankful now that I have had a good season,” Soyuncu told beIN Sports. “I have spoken with the club about the offers.
“It is still early but things will be clear in one or two weeks.”
Soyuncu scored one goal in 26 appearances in Bundesliga in the 2017-18 season to further establish himself as a regular in Freiburg’s first-team.
The promising Turkish talent helped Freiburg to avoid relegation after the German side finished in 17th place in the top flight.
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table this season to miss out on the Champions League for the second successive campaign.
Emery will be tasked with guiding the Gunners back into the top four next term.
