Arsenal offer 26-year-old £100,000-a-week contract – report
Arsenal have stepped up their contract offer for Jack Wilshere, according to a report
Arsenal have made an improved contract offer to Jack Wilshere to remain at the north London club, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners have increased their offer in an attempt to keep their youth graduate at the north London club beyond the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Arsenal initially offered Wilshere a deal worth around £90,000-a-week in what was a £20,000 pay cut from his current contract.
Wilshere appeared unlikely to sign the new deal to fuel reports of a potential move to their Premier League rivals in recent months, including Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC.
However, the Daily Mirror claim that the Gunners have decided to increase their contract offer to £100,000 a week in an attempt to keep the popular Arsenal star at The Emirates.
Wilshere started the season out of favour under Arsene Wenger after he spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Bournemouth.
However, the England star impressed in the Europa League and the League Cup to earn a place in Wenger’s starting XI in the Premier League.
The French head coach is set to stand down at the end of the season following another disappointing season.
