Arsenal have a deal in place to sign Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Gianluca Di Marzio, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners have reached an agreement to land the 34-year-old defender this summer as soon as his contract at Juventus expires.
The same story says that the right-back will be free to join another club when his contract at Juventus expires on 1 July, and Arsenal look likely to be his destination.
According to the same article, the Swiss right-back was in London last week to visit the club’s training facilities ahead of his proposed move to The Emirates.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery apparently wants to add cover for right-back Hector Bellerin and he has identified Lichtsteiner as his prime target in that position.
The same story says that the defender wants his move agreed before the start of the World Cup in Russia next month.
Arsenal are likely to be linked with a number of signings this summer as the Gunners look to assemble a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The north London side have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign..
