Sky Sport Italia is claiming that the north London side have identified the 21-year-old as a possible target this summer as Unai Emery searches for his first signing as Gunners manager.
Emery will be looking to bring in a number of players this summer as he bids to transform the Gunners into Premier League title contenders for next season.
Pellegrini was in good form for Roma this season as he scored three goals in 37 games for the Italian side and helped them to reach the Champions League semi-finals, where they were beaten by Liverpool FC.
The same story says that Italian giants Juventus also hold an interest in signing Pellegrini this summer as they look to bolster their own squad.
The article also reports that Pellegrini currently as a release clause of £26m set in his contract at Roma.
Arsenal are likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Emery looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for the title next term.
