Arsenal have held talks with Jean-Michael Seri about a summer transfer but Chelsea FC are on course to beat the Gunners to his signature, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners have expressed an interest in signing the 26-year-old this summer after having also been linked with a move to sign him last year.
According to the same story, the Nice star is currently valued at around £40m by the French club – but Chelsea FC are are leading the race for his signature.
Should Seri indeed move to one of the London clubs this summer, he will be joining a team without Champions League football next season.
Seri has been in good form for Nice this season, scoring two goals and making five assists in 30 Ligue 1 games for the French side. He also featured five times in the Europa League.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea FC are likely to be on the lookout for significant reinforcements this summer as they aim to build squads capable of winning the title next season.
The two London clubs endured disappointing seasons in the Premier League, as Chelsea FC finished fifth and Arsenal ended up sixth.
