Arsenal want to sign proven Premier League star for £3m – report
Arsenal are keen on a deal to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom this summer, say reports
Arsenal are keen on a cut-price deal to sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are keen to sign two new central defenders this summer as they look to significantly bolster their squad ahead of next season.
The same report says that the north London side want to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and have also held talks about signing Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu.
Now, it is also being claimed that the Gunners could move to sign former Manchester United star Evans for £3m after West Bromwich Albion were relegated from the Premier League.
Evans was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window but a switch failed to materialise for the Northern Ireland international.
The 30-year-old Evans scored two goals and made two assists in 28 Premier League games for West Brom last season but was unable to prevent the Baggies from finishing bottom of the table.
Arsenal are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as they look to build a team who can challenge for the title next term.
