Ian Wright is adamant that Liverpool FC will secure their place in the Champions League final ahead of their second leg at AS Roma on Wednesday night.

The Reds were 5-2 winners against the Italian giants in the first leg of their semi-final clash after Mohamed Salah netted twice and teed up Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane for goals.

Liverpool FC will make the trip to the Italian capital in pursuit of a first Champions League final appearance since the Reds suffered a 2-1 loss to Serie A giants AC Milan in Athens.

Jurgen Klopp’s side played out a frustrating goalless draw with Stoke City in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, while AS Roma were 4-1 winners against Chievo in Serie A.

Former Arsenal striker Wright is confident that the 18-time English champions will reach the Champions League final despite conceding late goals from AS Roma duo Diego Perotti and Edin Dzeko.

Asked if Liverpool FC would still progress, Wright told Sky Sports: ” Absolutely.”

The Reds secured a commanding 5-2 lead after Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino each scored twice, and Sadio Mane once, in the first leg at Anfield.

Liverpool FC won the Champions League in 2005 thanks to a penalty shootout victory.
