Robbie Fowler states his prediction for AS Roma v Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC legend is backing the Reds to beat AS Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night
Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool FC will have enough to get past AS Roma in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
The Reds were impressive 5-2 winners against AS Roma in the first leg at Anfield last week after goals from Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool FC appeared to have one foot in the Champions League final in Kiev before Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti netted late goals to give AS Roma a lifeline.
The Merseyside outfit are looking to reach their first Champions League final since 2007 when Liverpool FC lost 2-1 to AC Milan in Athens under Rafael Benitez.
Liverpool FC came from 3-0 down to rescue a 3-3 draw against the Italian giants in the Champions League final in 2005 before the Reds beat the Serie A club on penalties.
Former Reds striker Fowler is confident that Liverpool FC will get past AS Roma to secure their place in the European showpiece.
“For Liverpool, it is much simpler,” Fowler told the Daily Mirror.
“Produce even half of what we saw at Anfield and they’re through. I don’t want to tempt fate, but a side who could produce such sustained brilliance have to fancy their chances in Rome.
“I am not too worried of a repeat of the 3-0 against Barcelona.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table ahead of their next top-flight clash against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Reds have beaten FC Porto and Manchester City in the previous two rounds of the Champions League.
