The Arsenal star rallies the Gunners squad ahead of their biggest game of the 2017-18 season

Mesut Ozil is convinced that Arsenal can still reach the Europa League final ahead of the second leg of their last-four clash against Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.

The Gunners are in sixth place in the Premier League table and won’t finish in the top four this season to cast doubts on their Champions League qualification prospects.

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with 10-man Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium last week.

The north London side broke the deadlock in the second half thanks to Alexandre Lacazette’s opening goal before his compatriot Antoine Griezmann levelled in the final 10 minutes.

Ozil signed a new contract with the Gunners back in February to end speculation surrounding his future after his old deal had six months left on it.

The World Cup winner will be desperate to avoid another season without Champions League football given his European pedigree.

Ozil took to Instagram to post the above photo and write the following caption:

“Most important game of the season lying ahead of us. We can still make it happen 👊🏼 #YaGunnersYa @europaleague”

Arsenal have beaten CSKA Moscow and AC Milan in the previous two rounds.

The Gunners finished in fifth place in the Premier League table behind Liverpool FC to miss out on a Champions League spot.
