Antonio Conte would like to stay at Chelsea FC if the Blues are willing to support the Italian head coach, Pat Nevin has claimed.

The Blues won the Premier League title with two games to spare in Conte’s first season in charge of the west London outfit.

Chelsea FC struggled to defend their top-flight crown and the Blues finished 30 points behind this season’s champions Manchester City.

Conte’s side won the FA Cup thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner in a 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United at Wembley last weekend.

The Blues manager is reported to be on the brink of a departure at Chelsea FC after a difficult second season for the Italian head coach.

Former Blues winger Nevin believes Conte could still have a future at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer despite recent speculation.

“I think he would stay if given the opportunity but it isn’t his choice,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live. “It is the club.

“They are playing their cards so close to their chest. If they can get someone they think is better, then he will go.

“But tell me a manager who will get you more than Conte? There are very few.”

Chelsea FC lost 4-1 to FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 to make a premature exit from the competition.

The Blues missed out on a place in the League Cup showpiece following a 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the last four.
