Pat Nevin has claimed that Chelsea FC boss Antonio Conte will go down as a club legend if the Blues win the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The west London side finished in fifth place in the Premier League table to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second time in three seasons.

The Blues squandered the chance to put Liverpool FC under pressure on the final day after a resounding 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after the Blues managed to see off competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

The west London outfit can still win some silverware this term if Chelsea FC beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final this weekend.

Former Chelsea FC star Nevin believes Conte will be remembered as a Blues legend if his players can beat Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

“If every Chelsea player feels the same about their own efforts come Saturday night, then I have great hopes that we will win and even if we do not, all of us Chelsea fans will still be proud of them,” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.

“It would also be great for Antonio to be able to say that in two seasons he has won both the league and the FA Cup. In times gone by that would definitely have had him marked down as a legendary manager in this club’s history.”

Chelsea FC lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season to miss out on the double in Conte’s first season in charge.

The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge before a 2-1 loss to Chelsea FC at Old Trafford.
